Starting in June, 2016 the Ames Area Amateur Astronomers will
be offering a monthly open observing night at our observatory
in McFarland Park northeast of Ames. Events will start at
dusk. There won’t be a program at these events, just
observing. We will have telescopes set up and club members to
help use them. Also, we welcome people to bring their own
telescopes and binoculars and we’ll help point out sights. The
dates are listed below and will also be available on our
website: www.amesastronomers.com The events will be cancelled
if there is inclement weather (note that cold is not
considered inclement for astronomy!). We recommend you dress
for the temperature and bring mosquito repellent if
appropriate. For the events that correspond to a meteor shower
in the list below, consider bringing a lawn chair for easier
viewing of meteors (also, those events will probably extend
later into the night). If you have any questions, please feel
free to contact Ed Engle at outreach@amesastronomers.com |
